Pre-thesis Show Status
So per usual, I have been working my tail off. I have been spending most of this past week actually preparing for the thesis show and how to best show off all of the work I have put into this cookbook. This is definitely going to be a personal project that I will be carrying into the summer, or better yet, the rest of my life really.
I have been working on more and more icons, and finishing more spreads (which of course I am pleased with) and have been working on the various chapters. The spreads are coming together nicely, and with few problems here and there, I am slowly but surely making progress.
The one component of this cookbook that I will be spending a lot of time on in the coming weeks will be the glossary section, since that will be a monster all its own. Once all of my spreads are complete, I plan on going back through the directions and ingredients and calling out (through asterisks and bolded type) various techniques and products that may not be common knowledge or your every day grocery list items. I will be illustrating these techniques and explaining the
various ingredients and their origins to help educate the readers on these new foods and cuisines.
For the thesis show, I have decided to do an After Effects slideshow-style video to music to not only show you the visuals of this process but to also get you feeling as pumped and the kind of passion that I felt as I did this entire project. I’ve been so excited about this cookbook and cannot wait to produce this book. I will be spending much of the time in the future looking further in depth into all the various printing and publishing options.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading this process blog and I actually hope to keep updating this from time to time on my additional process. I have included some images of my nearly-finished spreads and additional food photography that you may enjoy, but not too many- I want to keep SOME of the surprise! The colors of the various chapters are still up for debate but I feel that I am quickly finding the route that I want to take for my final theme of my book.
Thank you for your time!
